character: david_martinez, character: gloria_martinez, character: lucy_(cyberpunk) — Cyberpunk: Edgerunners alternate happy ending, travel scene drawn in Studio Trigger's bold anime style with clean cel shading. A traditional Japanese ryokan room on the outskirts of Tokyo, night. In the foreground, David Martinez sits relaxed in shirt sleeves — jacket and tie hung on a hook, sleeves rolled up — by the open shoji window, holding his phone to his ear and smiling warmly as he video-calls his mother back in Night City: on the small floating holo-screen above the phone, Gloria Martinez, a Latina woman with short brown hair in a grey cardigan, appears from the living room of their apartment, night skyline and neon glow behind her, laughing and fussing over him through the call — "are you eating properly? how's Japan?" — while David nods and holds up a finger describing the futon to her, eyes soft with the ease of a son who can now call home across the world. Behind him in the room, Lucy — a young woman with a short white bob with pastel highlights and red eyeliner, in a casual loungewear shirt — kneels on the tatami laying out their futon beds, shaking a thick quilt open over crisp white sheets, pausing to glance over at David on the call with a fond, patient little smile before going back to smoothing the bedding. Warm paper-lantern light fills the room, steam rising from a teapot on the low table, yukata robes laid out on top of the dresser, the shoji screens open onto a dark garden with stone lanterns and a slice of Tokyo night sky, fireflies drifting past. Two layers of warm light — the soft holo-glow of Gloria's call in the foreground and the amber room lamps — mixed with the cool blue of the night garden, intimate cross-generational warmth of a mother, her son, and the girl who joined the family, medium shot with David on the call sharp in the foreground and Lucy softly visible behind, rich Trigger-style color contrast, clean bold linework.
